This beautiful bird could be seen running on the ground in small flocks searching for seeds
among the tall grass. Gould saw hundreds of parrots feeding among newly threshed corn.
These parrots were the staple diet of the early Tasmanian colonists and pies of the birds were
frequently made. Soon after Gould arrived he wanted to test "the goodness" of these pies
and found it so excellent that he partook whenever the opportunity arose. Fits the 5x7 hoop.
