As seen in one of the included samples, grosgrain ribbon may be
substituted in place of the usual applique fabric on the trim
around the base of the hat. The 4x4 and 5x7 designs require
3/8" (9mm) ribbon, and the 6x10 design requires 5/8" (15mm)
ribbon. Please note, any resizing of the designs may affect
the accuracy of the above measurements. Using felt is another
option! Felt was used for the hat in the second sample, and
the hat's final satin stitch (step 8) was skipped. Be sure
to check the wash/dry instructions on the felt before stitching.
