If you use spray adhesives with your hoop, chances are you have layers of left-over adhesive all over it. Do not despair! There are some things you can do to help.
Many embroiderers use "Goo-Gone" to get the extra adhesive off their hoops. Follow the directions on the package and wipe some on your hoop. After a few minutes, wipe it off. Hopefully the build-up comes off with it.
If you're like me, I have too many layers of adhesive for the Goo Gone to work. What I found that works for severe layers is to spray the hoop with WD-40 and put it into a sealed Ziplock bag for an hour or so. After that, I take it out and clean it up. It's always better afterwards!
Of course, keeping your hoop clean to begin with is the best way to handle buildup. Clean it as needed before it gets to be a problem or use a paper cut-out in the shape of your hoop (with the center cutout) to place over your hoop while you spray. A little prevention can go a long way!
