Italy is mainly known as a major center for the production of Maiolica, also called Majolica (painted tin-glazed earthenware) in the Renaissance period and later up to modern time. It is decorated in blue-green and yellow magic colours tones on a white background, sometimes depicting historical and mythical scenes or mysterious animals and birds that have never been real.
